Why do people bother to bash the XBox?
I will Edit this when I find more things to add.
Note: I am not an XBox fanboy, although I prefer it over the other next-gen systems, it doesn’t necessarily make me a fanboy. I would own all 3 if I had the money to support all of them, but I don’t. That, and I would suggest a representative from the other next-gen’s boards to do the same as I have done. The words typed up are my own opinion and I am well aware that everyone has their own opinions.
Now, I will start this off like this. I’m Idiot Stick, and I’m glad you are going to take the time to read this. If you don’t, and just reply saying everything I said was bullshit, leave my topic. Now. And now that we got that out of the way, lets get started.
The XBox is a new system, compared to Nintendo and Playstation. Microsoft, starting their very own console, has done a fabulous job in doing so. And in doing this, they created a fanbase that I am proud to be a part of. Now, the fact that the XBox is a relatively new franchise, I have come to the conclusion that the ‘newness’ of it, is scaring the owners of the other platforms Not in a literal sense, but in a sense that makes them not want to have anything to do with it (It, being the XBox). I figure that they are worried that the XBox is a threat to their platforms success in the market, and slow productivity down, so they take offence and start trash-talking XBox owners. I came to this conclusion as I played my step-brothers Socom game online, on his PS2. I admit, I wasn’t very good at the controls, so I asked some people nicely, saying “Are there any real tips you guys could give me to using this PS2 controller? I am too used to my XBox’s its not funny.” Then, I was pummeled with “Omg XBox sucks! Throw it out and buy PS2 games!” etc. And, here I am.
Now, talking about Nintendo, here is my back round with them. I owned a NES as my first system, and then bought a Nintendo 64 shortly after it’s release. I own a GBA since the day the first one was released, and have a library of games that I enjoyed, which weren’t that many, but I loved all of them. I respect everything Nintendo has ever done, but I think they have recently made 2 large mistakes. #1: Sold Rare to XBox. Rare made the best (if not second best) games on the N64, and they let them go. Bad idea. And #2: Aimed at a younger audience. I don’t disagree with this that much, but I am not a kid anymore, and the games they had planned on releasing didn’t fit my needs.
The Playstation 2. To be 100% honest, I would love to own one. But I can’t afford it, and I probably wouldn’t play it much because I spend most of my days playing Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, on my XBox, online with my buddies. If XBox had never of went online, I know I would have owned a Playstation 2 instead. And now, onto my point of the topic.
Why bash the XBox? I explained why I think people do bash it in the 3rd paragraph. Now, here are some common complaints.
“The XBox is like a computer, and most of the games are available on the PC anyway. Why buy the XBox if I get all of its goodness on my computer?”
-Some people don’t have uberfast computers, like me. My computer can barely run Diablo 2, and I cannot afford to buy a whole new one. The XBox came at half the price of a brand new PC, and since I was never keen on keyboards with FPS’s, I went wild over the controller part. Then, the cheaters. Admittedly, there are lots, and lots of people that use 3rd party programs to give them an advantage over you. Ever try playing a FPS and some guy with god mode joins the game? It’s virtually pointless. The XBox cannot have 3rd party programs, hence making cheaters immanent. And game play addictively fun
“Halo this, Halo that. Halo is the only good game on the XBox!”
-Wrong. There are plenty of awesome games for the XBox, just none have had the publicity that halo had. Why? Because Halo was the best game to be on the XBox, AT LAUNCH. Launch titles are a good thing, but what comes after can, and was, better. Online play beat halo to the ground, and the release of Splinter cell drew the final blow to Halo. Halo is a good game, fuck, its a great game, but It cannot compete with some of the other titles, unless you play a lot of system link games, or 4 ways with friends.
“Why aren’t Xbox’s graphics that much better compared that to the PS2 or the GameCubes?
-Graphics don't really mean shit, in the sence of a good game. Although they can create some finer details better, and make the appearance and marketing easier, the graphics aren't what makes a game good. Take Halo. Graphics are good, but not the best ever. But take the AI from that game, and find one with similar on the Ps2 or even the gamecube. I haven’t personally found a game with AI that doesn't just swarm you, and force-feed their weapons into you're chest. Don’t complain about graphics until you notice the other finer aspects of the game.
“XBox is too heavy!”
-You should be old enough to be able to lift a brick or two by now. If that’s to heavy, go grab some 5 lb weights and get to work. The XBox weighs that much because the hardware in it isn’t light. Simple. Don’t put it on a cardboard box instead of your floor and you will be fine...

-No, it does not. It may have happened to the occasional retard, who had his XBox smothered in blankets or clothes while playing it, but I've never heard of it accually ever happening.
"The XBox has no games compaired to the PS2!"
-Yes, the XBox lacks games, in comparison to the 200+ that the PS2 obtains. But tell me, how many of those games do you accually play? Then, how many XBox games are played on a regular basis? There you go. There is a comparable ammount of PLAYABLE games on both systems. Accually, now that I think about it, I don't think that there are any games on the PS2 worth playing that arent on the XBox, not counting the FF series, and Socom. I'm probably wrong here though.
