I think they can provide a lot of benefits if not played until excess. Of course they probably cause some level of unhealthy behavior because kids don't get as much exercise as they should. Unless they are dancing with their nintendo.

I think mentally, though, it is a lot more challenging than watching television, for example, so given some of the alternatives, I think it can help mentally. All things in moderation though!

Oh yeah and angelina loves gamers!

I feel that video games have improved my brain to complete tasks which involve hand, eye and brain coordination with greater ease... for example, parallel parking. In fact, I have a feeling that it was vide games that really taught me to drive.
Games like Resident Evil and Zelda have taught me to be a better problem solver.
I KNOW tetris has taught me to be the master packer and furniture mover that I am today.

Games have definitely improoved certain aspects of my brain.

It depends, playing videogames doesn't hurt your brain at all. When you are so addicted that you don't do schoolwork, or never get outside, thats when its harmful. Videogames do teach things, and it's definitly better then sitting around doing nothing.

It all depends on the game one is playing. Like in San Andreas- what is the point of the pleasure item found in the bathroom- quick reflexes, mental alertness lol I dont think so. Now if it is a game of speed or critical thinking or for memory ok. I can see the point.

Yes they do improve your mind. They improve your mind to become better at playing videogames. The thing's built for entertainment, not education. Too much of it rots your body and your social life.

Playing games may rot your mind if you forget everything and get severely addicted. Anything in excess is harmful. Playing games for fun and entertainment is good and helps in development of your mind.

That is true if played for fun and entertainment they are quite fine, but if addiction takes the wheel then it is going to be rot. This is a simple principle, that is true in every sphere.

Well for me, computer games are good to us. Because some games requires thinking which stimulates our brain. Example of games that is strategic and also role playing games. But addiction to this a bad. you will surely rot on your couch by playing it whole day.

Computer gaming sharpen your mind. Improves your logic and analytical thinking. But still, everything must be done in moderation. Addiction can kill. I've already heard of someone dying because he played an online game for 72 hours straight. Also, if gaming keeps you away from school, then yeah, it's bad...
