I just read an article in the july 2005 Discover magazine that said while games can be addictive, they improve learning skills that are applicable to the real world. In the same way chess teaches you to think several moves ahead before moving, video games teach you to plan & create imaginative ways for achieving goals.

They improve your reflexes, but if you put other work of just to play video games, I guess it makes you stupid.

depends on the game i guess, if you play a game that have alot of shooting; then you'd probably be one of those that go outside and try to shoot people too and think its a game; eh, wouldn't be too good ya think?

Well, I think it depends on how you let it effect you on a mental level. If you play a game like GTA because you fantisize about killing others around you then yes, they rot your mind. If you play GTA because you want to just take a break and have a little fun, then I don't think it harms you. Some games do improve your hand-eye cordination I think but others are just pointless.....

I think they are like everything else in life. They have thier pros and cons. They do help out it strategy thinking and hand-eye coordnation etc...........but if all you do is play them day in and day out, they can rot your brain. It is the same as everything, good as long as it is not in excess.
I personally have a job where I am constantly thinking, so I like to come home and play to relax my brain.
