I downloaded the trial version of AOE III and can not find any help on basic
commands such as "how to build trading posts" or "how to make your soldiers
defend your town". Where can I find this information? Is this a playable game
demo or just a video?

more than likely if you can interact with the media than you are
playi8ng the game.

all you need to do to build a trading post is click on a settler or one
of your villagers and you MUST build it right next to the big gray
circle with the white star next to it.

to make your soldiers defend the town just move them over there and
hopefully they get there in time.
