Default Is it possible to download two versions of a game?

I ahve diablo 2 and the expansion. BUt when i install the expansion then i
cna't paly the original. Is there a way to install the original into like one
file and then install it again and install the expansion so that i can click
on one file and play original and then click the other file and paly the
expansion

you can play both. but what happens is that when you change a diablo 2
character to a diablo 2 expansion character you can never play that character
again in the original. when you create new characters theres a tickbox for if
you want to make them a expansion character or not.
