Default Re: Fable The Lost Chapters

I've had exactly the same thing happen with me. Bought the game, installed
it, then I can't play it. Have upgraded video and sound driver, disabled
sound, uninstalled, reinstalled. I still get the "game has failed to exit
properly"message, with sending the error to Microsoft.

I'm playing Dungeon Siege II with no problems. This has me really annoyed as
nothing has been done to address the problem. Obviously. It's disappointing
as this looks good.

I've used that website for trying various things without success. Any
suggestions?

Meanwhile, I'll go back and play Dungeon Siege II which I can play.

Sweet!

You know, everyone always says to upgrade drivers, but it's
become a normal reaction to assume that our drivers are fine
since they work with other games. I'm glad you persevered!

I got a Audigy 2 NX! That's the USB-Soundblaster! Does this also refer to my
card?

Furthermore, the link does not work properly. You are directed to the
download page of Creative when clicking onto that link.

If his link doesn't work for you, and you want to be sure you're downloading
the correct driver, you should go to creative.com/support for your drivers.

The thing is, as you said the problem seems to be the unsupported Open AL.
But even the newest driver for the Audigy 2 NX does not support this
technology.
Do you happen to know if it is possible to deactivate the Open AL in game
(i.e. by editing a .ini file)? I have once heard of this way to get a game
work but I am not sure if it will work for Fable.

I will get my laptop back in a week and then I can try it out by myself. If
I am successful I will post it here for all people, who do have the same
soundcard as I have.

bought a for me Brand NEW GIGABYTE GEFORCE 6600GT (AGP) and after starting
the game the third time I have the same problem again!!!! so be carefull !
I already wrote mircosoft about it but as always they dont care and they
wont share any withness well so I have to post this into a REAL support forum
I guess my ProblemCode: is 0x800401F0 Video issue! text Fable cant play
Videos please check Videocard or Soundcard...well it worked before...its
coming up where normaly the Lionhead Logo appears...But it wont play the
little man ramming its sword into the ground why not..again it worked at the
first start of the game...?????
