Hi Gazz,
I would take a step back using System Restore to the time when
you first reinstalled Windows Media Player 10, and then lower or
disable the hardware acceleration using Start/Run: dxdiag
If that works, I suggest visiting

| If I stop the windows audio service, Fable loads and runs fine except there
| is no longer any sound. I downloaded and reinstalled Windows Media Player 10
| and it cleaned up the executables under the windows audio service, after
| which Fable loaded fine and the sound worked as well. I ending up having to
| reload a bunch of original drivers and went back to before I reloaded windows
| media player 10. And now have the same problem again. When I downloaded the
| file for windows media player 10 again from the microsoft download site, the
| file is corrupted with a bad cab file. Is there anyway I can just download
| and update the binaries under the windows audio service?
