Default Dungeon Siege 2 lost players in the Inn...

On Tuesday I noticed something very bad… I seem to have lost everyone I had
stored in the Inn.

I’m in Act II

My character Wargun is level 32 Knight
I also have in my party:
Deru Level 31 Sharpshooter
Taar Level 31 Grand Mage
Finala Level 31 Sorceress

I went into the Inn today to swap someone out so I could start Amren’s
mushroom quest and I noticed that He, Vix and Lothar are missing. I know they
were there ~2 days ago when I played because that is when I finished Lothar’s
Innocence quest.

Is there anything I can do to bring them back? Have you seen anything like
this?

Hi TJ,

Did you make frequest game saves along the way?
If so, you'll easily be able to restore your party with
the minimum amount of loss... as an MCSE you can
appreciate that even non mission critical data needs
to be backed up on a regular basis. :-)

Thanks Jimmy,

I did have the standard 5 backups, unfortunately none of them go back far
enough because of that little question that asks if you would like it save
after you complete a quest. Of course I answered yes and told it to never
ask me again. I also save before quitting the game each day.

It would be nice if there would have been better documentation about there
only having 5 backups stored. Then again there have been days where I have
completed 5 quests and then saved before quitting and that would not have
helped much either...

Is there a reg hack that can increase the number of saved games?

Hi TJ,

Are you using Windows XP with System Restore active?
If so, you might be able to recover older saved games.
Backup your current My Documents>My Games directory
first though. I hope that works, since I don't have a reghack.

Thanks Jimmy,

I'll look at that. I probably do have it turned on but don't remember.
