What Is The Meaning of Life?
What Is The Meaning of Life?
Okay, I think it is time for me to make one, very meaningful post that will hopefully not turn into a SPAM thread. The question is somthing that has been asked since man was first created. There are many answers to the question but there isn't a right one; nor is there a worng one. In truth, I believe that no one trully knows the meaning of life but everyone can offer their own personal opinion of what it is. Now, I am going to state mine. You will probally see me in a different light if you actually read this.
I believe that the meaning of life is to try and enjoy it as much as possible. I don't believe that you should ponder on the past or worry about the future. Instead, I feel that you should try to live the moment instead of living the whole thing at once. True, there are times in life where you do have to worry about the future and think about the past. If you didn't then you would never learn from your past mistakes and you would never be prepared for the future. Right now I'm pressed for time so I'll edit this later to finish what I want to say. For now though, why don't you all offer your own opinions.

How do you know "there isn't a right one; nor is there a wrong one."?
the word "meaning" in the question insinuates there that there was purpose to begin w/ because someone or something intended for there to be so when the universe was "created"... if in fact it was even "created" cuz that too implies some sort of conscious intent behind it.
It's possible that, whatever the odds, life developed from unconscious events and that in effect there is no inherent meaning for life.
If that's the case then all your answers are just a reflection of what you wish the meaning of life was. Though I would argue that since humans are conscious entities able to give meaning and create things w/ self-appointed meaning and purpose, that when they reproduce, whatever they decide is the meaning of life for that child is as so the meaning of life subjectively if not definately.
I don't know the meaning of life, but I don't claim to either.
I think you should of posted this in the Politics & Religion forum.

It's not a political question, and it isn't necessarily a religious one. It's fine where it is.
I pretty much agree with Vicious. Obviously none of us can be sure what the meaning of life is, but each of us can decide why we think that we're here, and what the meaning of life is for each of us. So no one can really say "The meaning of life is..." because not only do you not know, but it could be different for each individual.

yeah, or there could be a definite single answer except no one wants to find out for sure cuz they'd prefer denial to truth. *points elbows*

Scientifically, to reproduce at all costs.
Moraly, it's different for everyone, and they have to find it out for themselves. It's what's more important to you than anything else, what keeps you from dying or wanting to kill yourself. Thats what I think

What if you hate life and the only thing keeping you from killing yourself is fear? then is fear the meaning of life?
