The reason why .999(repeating) = 1
n = .9999...
.9999... x 10 = 9.9999...
n x 10 = 10n
Therefore, 10n = 9.9999...
10n - n = 9n
9.9999... - .9999... = 9
Therefore, 9n = 9
9 ÷ 9 = 1
n = 1

We learned that in math in like 6th grade, when we learned how to turn repeating decimals into fractions.
