Well, guess I'll bring a laptop...load it with stuff. And maybe a protable 80 GB drive. I don't think they will check that.

The reason they cost so much is that what they do in phenomenal. They're expensive, but not overpriced IMO.

Yes, because the material value is all that matters. [/sarcasm]

The fact that people make a living equipped with only a computer and Adobe Photoshop says something.

So, they made the first version. Got a load of cash. Then all they do is add little bits to the program while chewing on a Twix. Yet they demand more money. Why do you think there are many free programs out there ? Doesn't that say something ?

There are many free programs because people believe that:
1. The product should be available by use for everyone, or is a tool that should be free.
2. No one would pay money for it.
3. Other products are free and do the same thing, so their product won't sell if they charge.

While other programs, such as Photoshop, are much better than free programs available, and people want it so they can sell it for as much money as they do. For example, MS Paint is free and comes with any version of Windows since maybe as far back as Windows 3.1. I'm not sure. Compare it with Photoshop. Both are theoretically the same in concept, that you can make pictures with them. But Photoshop is so much more extensive, easier to use, and has so many more features, so they can charge money for it. If you didn't have MS Paint on your computer, and you couldn't get it for free, would you pay money for it? I know I wouldn't.

Point taken.
Still, there are many free prgorams which for example, scan for adware. There are also some that aren't free. I find sometimes that a free program can perform better. I guess you're right though. I still think they ask for too much. Because, they probably would still get a whole lot if all they asked for is 50% of the original price. Alot of effort isn't always put into soemthing. Many programs (and forms of entertainment even), are done by a handful or less of people. Even if they worked hard, they would be getting way too much cash. It all boils down to money.

Yeah, they could sell it for less, but they're doing quite well, people buy it, so why charge less?
