Err..., I don't think it makes a difference where I go. I'm not going as a muslim to meet other muslims, I'm going as a student.
Of course, it DOES make a difference where I go, but that depends on where.(From a total student POV).

Mormans live in Utah. There, joke is now 0% funny. Well, if it is summer, West coast will be way better than the east. Unless you like it 98ºF at 80% humidity.

Yeah, it doesn't really matter where you go.
No one, of any religion, ever needs a church/synagogue/mosque/temple. For the most part, religion sucks.
*NOTE: RELIGION = ORGANIZED FAITH (At least in this context).*

Went to the U.S. Embassy today.
Got most of the details on what I'll be doing in the US of A. I'm one of the participants of the Benedictine University, so I'll travel to: "Chicago, IL; Springfield, IL, San Fransicso, CA; Janesville, WI; Boston, MA and Washington, D.C."

That's sweet, you hit a lot of the major places (Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, DC). Have fun.

Yeah that is cool.
I don't know about Wisconson though. I got this four page print that gives me a basic idea about things. I won't have an actual itinerary till I reach the states.
Here's is the boring stuff, a few quotes:
"The program's ultimate objective is to promote a deeper understanding of U.S. societs, culture, values and institutions among future leaders..blah blah blah. ...will incorporate foucs on contemprory American life, etc etc etc."
"Participants are expected to complete required reading assignments and take part fully in all academic and other activites planned...blah blah blah."
Some comunity srevice stuff to give us "grass roots approaches to solving community problems."
Also, we'll meet lotsa American citezens with different backgrounds and peers.
There's a max of 21 students each institution. Guys and girls. We'll stay in dorms first, then in hotels during the study tour.
Then some stuff about meals, a "modest" daily per diem to cover out of pocket expenses. Also info on the travel arrangements, the health insurance, chaperones, security, follow on projects.
Now more important things:
It says about where I can go and what I can do outside the program. It seems somewhat restricted. I just hope I get a chance to buy some Manga, maybe a few DVDs too. After all, learning about american society, we should visit a huge library or something.
And, it says:
"Alumni Workshop
All participants will be asked to take part in a regional alumni workshop..blah blah blah. The workshop will take place six months to one year of the conclusion of the U.S. based programs at a aloctaion in the MENA region to be determined. Costs of student leader travel to and from this conference, as well as blah blah blah will be fully covered by..etc."
So, what the hell is an Alumni Workshop???
