Post gas mileage

It seems that whether by intention or design Japanese manufacturers have long had a fuel efficiency advantage over their American counterparts. Maybe it's because US car makers have just never wanted to sell a car with good gas mileage.

This is very true Japanese have always been the excelling in technology. They are being very practical when they are keeping in mind the basic need, and that is mileage. The gas prices are hiked every day and it becomes important that your car should give good mileage.

To be honest, it's not always what car you drive but how you drive it. I won't be giving up my 3.2 litre XJ8 just because fuel is a bit expensive .

Yes a good driver can fetch good mileage from a car but still people want to rely on technology rather than themselves. Only technology can let us survive in the future where the gas prices may further rise.

Lightbulb

There's the old saying never put all your eggs in one basket, and that seems to make sense. Toyota just announced a decline in profits because sales of their SUVs declined, but they still made a profit whereas GM and Ford both made losses since Toyota make a broader range of cars (which includes small cars).

Cool

Yeah, the ol' guzzlers have character, like this 1974 Oldsmobile. However, it's probably not a sustainable lifestyle if everyone owned one, lol. The bling factor is appealing though.

Definitely, I want one! Not really sustainable, though my 1997 Jaguar is a fair bit newer but the costs are still through the roof.

I have a 93 Ford Ranger. It gets about 24 mpg average. I'm not even close to rich and I never have an issue paying for gas. It'd be nice to get more mileage, but honestly.. I like driving a truck.

And you guys really need to start to understand that people who buy Firebirds don't buy them for the gas mileage. They never have, and never will. Someone who's looking for something like that isn't really gonna pick up a Yaris either, you know? People have different needs, different things they're looking for. If you're all about the gas mileage, then rock on. But don't think for a second that there aren't people who still want some power behind what they're driving.

I don't know if I trust diesels completely. It's pushed heavily as a green choice, because of using less fuel, and they say they can emit less carbon than a petrol engine, but they do emit a lot of hydrocarbons and this has been under emphasized in the media.
