What is your stance on...
What's your stance on Burning Copyrighted CD's? I do not think this is against the TOS but if it is please lock it. Also, do not talk about pirating or anything I just want to know what your stance is on this and why...

I feel that if you are only getting a few songs off the cd, but not the whole thing, then it is fine, but if you get the whole cd, you must like the artist enough to warrant buying the cd.

I think that burning pirated items is al right as long as you keep it to yourself distribute it.

for me, it goes like this...they made the technology, and as long as they keep on making the music that i want to hear, i will be putting it onto my burned cds. a good example of this is with things such as mp3 players. for these, you download music onto portable hard drives to listen to. do they honestly expect you are going to take a cd you bought, transfer one file to your computer, then listen to it like that? hell no! i believe that they made it, so it should be used!

yeh rob!!! think about it like this: im gonna pay 20 bucks for a cs that maybe ill listen to for a week, maybe a month if its good. games are worse, im addicted to getting new ones and playing them for a week or 2 and then never playing them again. games cost like 40, 50 bucks so its like 40 or 50 bucks for a week or 2 of fun? nah, thats why a certain program that sounds like a magical word is good.

It's pretty f***ed up if you rip off a guys entire cd. You know how much time and effort it takes for them to do what they do. When downloading a song or two of a guys cd he dosen't lose much. And anyways usually one will download a song to preview what else would be on a cd and eventually buy it.
Or I'll just burn an old cd. Dre won't mind if I copy a cd that he released like 5 years ago and isn't proably making money on anyways.

i admit i do download songs, but i always buy the CD. for instance before the latest oasis cd was released, i could wait no longer so I downloaded the album. It was awesome, and once it was released I went out and bought it.
Or for instance I downloaded a few songs from LP's reanimation, and they sucked. I deleted the songs and didn't buy the CD.
THe way I download songs is like going to the Wiz and sampling the music with those headphones, except i get an extended period of time to decide if i like the CD, which usually helps the artist. I rarely like something the first time I hear it.

I think its wrong to burn the whole cd also. I have yet to do so. I only burn mixes when I burn cd's.
