Default This is what I have been saying....

Check this out. Exactly what I have always said and posted as long as I have been here.

A Link to the Past is the greatest game ever, and eight other Nintendo titles make the grade.

Entertainment Weekly and the G4 Network recently collaborated on a list of the 100 greatest games of all time. The full list will be available in the May 9 issue of the magazine, but Nintendo jumped the gun to toot its own horn, revealing its own games to make the list. Here is Nintendo's thrilling news release:

Did you know… from Nintendo®

The Legend of Zelda®: A Link to the Past® is ranked the #1 video game of all time on Entertainment Weekly’s “100 Greatest Games of all Time” issue (May 9, 2003) which is on newsstands now.

Not only did Nintendo top the list with Zelda, it had more games on the list than any other video game publisher.

In addition:

At least one game is represented for each console Nintendo® has released -- Nintendo Entertainment System® (NES), Super NES®, Game Boy®, Nintendo® 64 and Nintendo GameCubeTM.
Donkey Kong® (#45), the game that revolutionized the video game industry more than 20 years ago, ranked higher than many games released within the past year.
Other Nintendo games included on the list are: Super Mario 64TM (#8), GoldenEye 007TM (#11), Super Metroid® (#20), Mario Kart 64TM (#30), Pokemon® (#49), Animal CrossingTM (#72), and Wave Race® 64 (#75).
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past was recently released for Game Boy® Advance. The game includes an all-new multiplayer game, The Four Swords. The latest installment in the Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, launched in March for Nintendo GameCube and has quickly become the top-selling game of the year thus far.

hmm i wonder how many of those games are japanese release only like most of the macross games that finally came here not too long ago. Or games that just didnt make it here at all, especially those dreamcast titles that were only in Japan

The title is all out of place, so I need a longer title for it to look good. Ok...

ALtTP was a good game, i cant deny that. but to make it the best games in existence? its just..wrong. doesnt anyone else think? i can come up with a whole list of games better than it.

-Ocarina of Time, as one of them.
-Final Fantasy VII (it brought everyone into RPGS that wasnt already hooked)!
-Arcade classics such as Spy Hunter (rated in the 90's or 80's which was crap)..
-Bushido Blade, or Bushido Blade 2..which i didnt even see in the twenties.

its just wrong what they did. completely wrong.

Ocarina of Time was ALTTP's story line with new graphics and put into a 3-D world. Difference is OoT was longer and harder to transverse worlds. Collect 3 pendants then collect 8 medallions in OoT and 8 diamonds for ALTTP. BTW, ALTTP is better on SNES than on GBA. While almost identical there are several changes inwhich I despise royally such as the addition of Like-Likes and the change of the mirror's sound. I do think that Ocarina of Time should of been on there, but it might of been limited to 1 game per series. And FF might be on there close to the top but the guy at PlanetGamecube said that GTA3 and Vice City were #s 2 & 3, which I find to be BS. These are just my feelings though and I do have to say that I have honestly played through ALTTP more than OoT. I've beaten OoT maybe 2-4 times and I've beaten ALTTP about 7-9 times, several of which include getting all the heart pieces. I beat it the weekend before I got WW. I sat down for a couple hours and I know the dungeons by heart so I breezed through it looking for difference of that and the GBA one. Beat the GBA one twice as well trying to get a different ending according to a FAQ. It didn't work. so overall between SNES and GBA, i've beaten ALTTP 9-11 times. (And I dont mean that as a joke, it just turned out that way while I was typing.)

EDIT: I also think that ALTTP coming out before OoT helped because it was really the first game that I ever got addicted to that I would sit down for long periods just playing it, and the first game I ever played through more than once.

EDIT:EDIT: / That doesn't count games like Mario for the NES where you always have to start at the beginning.

I don't think LttP should be #1, but I agree it is a very good game.
