I haven't thought what it is like for me... However- what do you think it is like for people who do not believe in God or afterlife think it is?
Think about it... You don't believe in God or Afterlife, which basically means you won't be going anywhere when you die. So, you die. Then what? Nothing. You don't think or live or anything. I can't even imagine it- it gives me a headache. Think about it- There is nothing- absolutely nothing.
I think it is more interesting to think about it then it is to talk about it.

Ever have a night when you didn't dream when you slept? I imagine it will be like that, if you ever get there.
Ive read article about how your brain still functions for 7 seconds after your body dies. The guy who sponsored the "Comics Come Home" specials on comedy central to raise money for his cancer found raising thing once said he was looking forward to those 7 second because your brain cycles through all the thoughts and memories it has in that time. Which means it would like a dream of your whole life. So as far as you know this life your living right now could just be a dream or a memory and your already dead.
If you want to know the meaning of life, things of the afterlife, if there really is a god, and other such things I really recommend you go rent the movie "Waking Life" It really changed my whole theory on life.

I actually have been thinking about this quite a bit lately because of this project I have to do for a class.
First of all, I don't believe that your soul is immortal, I think it comes with the body but after the body deteriorates, the soul goes along with it.
An interesting thing is that Democritus believed that everything was made of atoms, including the soul. It's just something to think about.

The soul can't be made out of atoms. Scientists could detect atoms, yet they can't seem to detect the soul... ?

That theory, of course, came during the beginning of Greek philosophers so it's a little bit dated, but if you read the book, it explains a lot of theories like that in the point of view of different philosophers throughout history.

We're reading Sophie's World and we have to do journal entries on different questions about philosophers and questions that they attempted to answer. We have to compare our own theories with theirs. It has opened my mind quite a bit actually.
