Power is a scary thing.
We can assume humans, by nature, are corrupt. Our actions are governed by our greed, to become more popular, to become richer-- to become more powerful. Power is a scary thing, and with power comes more greed. Think about it, everything you do is to benefit yourself. Selflessness is a rarity, and usually happens in short periods of time with little thought involved (a.k.a. not rational).
Noone will ever be happy with the power they have, even if they are the most powerful person in world. A scary thought.
lol and I forgot a question, where does power end?
edit: areas which this topic might branch off of
-if happiness cannot be found in power, where can it be found?
-power and technology
(I assume you know what I mean by "power", in this regard)

Depends on if the power is in the right hands. Though sometimes it corrupts the best person.

Once power begins, it cannot be stopped as greed and a constant need to become more powerful takes over. Look at the Roman Empire, ascending and descending, and you will see what I mean.
