I just bought it today, and after completing the first level I don't understand what's so spectacular. The control setup is beyond annoying; I keep trying to play as a FPS. Which brings another topic - why is everyone so bent out of shape to call it a FPA? This game has shooting just like every other FPS, but because you can jump and explore it is now a FPA? Why isn't Turok or UC a FPA? Bah, just gimme my dual-analog setup and I'll be one happy admin.

BTW, I also got Animal Crossing. Nothing sweeter than hitting on the local chica.

It's a FPA because it involves shooting, but also exploration. Sure you can just run straight through the entire level, but there are many hidden items, weapons, maps and so on to collect that's not so straight foward.

It's spectacular because it's Metroid in 3D. ...'Nuff said.

And controls are just a matter of opinion. It takes getting used to, but a true gamer will soon adapt to minor things like that (Not that you aren't). And the controls help make Prime adventure more than a FPS. You are able to lock on to enemies, sorrund them, and counter attacks. Normal FPS's only allow you to attack head-on.

Nothing against FPS's though. It's my 2nd favorite genre right after action/adventure. So for Asarien, it's the best of both worlds.

So why wasn't Doom a FPA? There was emphasis on puzzles and searching for keys/weapons.

No clue. I suppose becasue Doom was more of a maze of going through a right combination of doors than exploring an enhibitant organic environment. But I don't know. I didn't come up with the FPA policy.

What other fps games have boss's and different suits/power ups/ roll around in a ball and exploration were its all the same world? In most fps you just go through levels. In metroid prime its all one big world.
