Goodlettsville officials yesterday said they believe a hacker is responsible for putting objectionable material on the city's Web site this week.
The online calendar section of the city's Web site was taken offline yesterday after officials discovered someone had created an event on Feb. 3 labeled ''donkey porn.'' The event linked to a pop-up window that contained objectionable text.
City Information Systems Director Phillip Uldrich said city workers discovered earlier in the week someone had changed some of the language of the city's meeting minutes to reflect talk-show host Jerry Springer was in attendance and included language similar to what was found on the calendar.
''I speculated it might be an adolescent or teenager playing,'' he said. ''It's just one of those things we deal with in the day-to-day life of modern communication.''
Uldrich said certain areas of the site were accessible by password, allowing authorized users to make changes to agendas and meeting minutes remotely. Those capabilities have since been eliminated.
Web hosting for the city is handled by an outside contractor.
''We're working with them to get to the bottom of this,'' he said.
The problems were discovered by city employees. No citizens called about the site, he said.
