Well I dunno bout y'all but my family fell apart...
Shall I go through the list? Yes...
My father was an abusive alcoholic who abused both me and my siblings...
My eldest brother was gay, and disowned
my mom got a divorce, remarried to a man she didn't love out of panic
My second brother was killed in a drive by that wasn't meant for him at 19
My mom got divorced again because he was a psycho...
My sister got involved with drugs and ran away and had a baby...
So yeah, America's familys are falling apart more than usual

Alright, sweety, I don't want to go all insensitive on ya here, but you seem to have syndome X. It goes something like, "X happened to me, X it horrible, X is evil and bad and X is suddenly happening to so many more people that I'm aware it has happened to me, X must either be outlawed or a huge campain must be formed to stop X from effecting anybody else."
I've had it before too.
Shit, shark bite victims experiance it. Suddenly they want to close down the oceans to protect the world from X. (In this case, a shark)
It's terrible that those things have happened to you and your family, but they AREN'T any more common than they used to be. Some are even LESS common. You have to look at things factually, not from a personal, emotionally-driven point of view.
And........ So you disowned your brother for being gay but you're NOT homophobic? Do explain that one.
Sorry about that stuff though... Hope things turn out better for you.

If you really think people should start pretending, I ask that YOU pretend to be happy in a life that you are not, for no reason other than to make the world LOOK PRETTY and make america LOOK GOOD whether it is or not and becuase somebody you don't know thinks it's a good idea. Your words make me ill, people need to do what makes them happy... Not what makes you, george bush, al gore, or the country statistics happy.

Yeah, suing makes people happy as well, and the simple truth is, much the same with the age of the lawyer & lawsuit, that people are self-righteous. The citizen is conceited, the citizen is selfish and the citizen has had these ideas pumped into his or her head that any little thing that presents an obstacle or obstruction is worth whining and suing about. The reason why divorce rates are high now is because people sponsor no effort to work through problems in a mature fashion. No, they need a judge to do it for them, they need a governmental body to waste time telling them ho much money they are entitled to when someone calls them fat, forcing them into psychological insecurity. In many ways, it is not appropriate that women rest on the lower rung than men--or the reciprocal--, but in other ways, that semblance of order, however small, can work out problems more thoroughly than what we find today. A chaotic mess, where everyone is fighting for the individual and no one is fighting for the group. If you've ever seen A Beautiful Mind, you would know that this practitioned idea is flawed.

It's one of the most courage things a person can do... to act on impluse, do what they want, and be selfish.
Sitting down and trying to "work out" a marriage almost never, well, works out. 90% of the time I'd say people either A) Go on pretending and "trying to understand", or B) Break up anyway after further arguing.
Although I don't think the government should be involved one little bit in marraige or dirovce (especially since they seem to think they have the right to deny marriage to certain people) unless someone's property rights are being violated.

Alright, here we go. I thought about this... and here's what I ask you.
Do you think it would have been better if you abusive father had tried to "work out" his abuse? Would it have worked?
Do you think things would have been better if your brother had stayed in the closet and lived a miserable lie his entire life?
Do you think things would have been better if you mom had not dirovced said men for the various reasons?
Do you think things would have been better off if your sister had had an abortion?
This double posting is pissing me off-Colorless

No. That's why the call it an impulse. Much as the young Romeo, it is a tragic flaw. Selfishness, in terms of genetics and evolution, is the mark of a survivor, but in an amoral world adapting its own morals, selfishness is inappropriate in varying degrees. Acting on instinct and intuition leads to failure unless you are in Hollywood, or that intuition is researched before practiced. Primal instinct is not courage, but far from it. It is an absence of thought, a mind for pleasure but veiled from consequences, and the very trait that leads to many failed marriages. As self-aware peoples, we have obligations to those afflicted by our actions as well as ourselves. Being able to consider that is far more courageous than any leap over a garden wall.

If you actually would do some research, Fade, you wouldn't have to ask. If you doubt anything I have said, simply insert a fragment of the sentence into a search engire. It's not like research is difficult.
These specific facts come directly from Peter McWilliams. I have checked many of them and found them to be accurate.
Romeo. Romeo. Romeo. Selfish actions. He didn't care about Juliet. He didn't even check to make sure she was dead. Didn't try to get her help. Just killed himself because he was selfish.
Greatest love story of all time?
No. No. No.
Great story?
Yes.
"Why do they always teach us that it's easy and evil to do what we want and that we need discipline to restrain ourselves? It's the hardest thing in the world--to do what we want. And it takes the greatest kind of courage. I mean, what we really want. " - Ayn Rand
