I feek the best game music is the foreign metal group in the opening cut scene-when Tidus is blitzballing i think Alias mentioned it already anyway that music kicked ass!!

most of the best game music, really never came from the game itself

it came from special CD arrangements based on music from the game.. for example

Calling From Heaven from Castlevania, is a really shitty song, but on the Castlevania Rock album, Calling From Heaven, is easily better than any Square Video Game Track..

and in retrospect, grab a Final Fantasy Pray album which was vocal tracks of Final Fantasies up to part 6, the ones that matter anyway.. and you'll get the same effect

so in terms of Video Game albums i'll have to say

Final Fantasy Pray.
Dracula Battle Perfect Selection
Final Fantasy V Dear Friends.
and Suikoden II just for a little added Bias

and thats pretty much it.. everything else ranges from excellent to crap.. but those are the ones I come back to each and every time.. they're just more complete albums.
