Am I the only one that, while I enjoyed Citizen Kane, did not think it was the greastest-movie-ever-ever-EVER that it's hailed to be? I mean, I never liked a single one of the characters, the plot moved unevenly with very little backround on anything... The plot/script/characters were all very dry. It was an amazing acomplishment acting-wise and cinemotography-wise, but I still consider it one of the most overrated movies ever made.
But Casablanca? Now you're talking!

I think he's great too but I hear he's kinda a jerk... and it sucks since Nicole Kidman is my favourite actress and now I have to hate one of them But I don't! Bwahaha...

What are you talking about? It was a great plot line. I just love the story about one mans life told through the memory of many people. And what's the greatest part is its not one of those happy cliche endings. Its just so original. And whatever flaw you might find in the story is more then made up for by the great directing and lighting of the cinematography.

The thing about Citizen Kane is it told it's story in about 90 minutes, leaping from subplot to subplot, bits and piece of his life... but you never get to see him. You almost start to get to a point where his emotions are reginizable, then it leaps in another direction. The ending was classic, true, but I just don't see why nobody ever questions it's status as the-best-there-ever-was. Cause it's just not.

Your not supposed to see the real him. When you see him its from what the people telling the story remember his like. He didn't show emotions because he had such a traumatizing childhood being taken away from his parents and all.
