As for pre election polls, you are very wrong. In Spain, in the past few weeks, ETA have been caught with over 500kg of explosives, and after Carod-Rovira met woth ETA without telling the PSC (PSOE for Catalonia) it cost him a lot of votes. Add that to the fiasco of the left in Madrid, where as recent as a few months back they had to vote again because of a dissident member from PSOE.
The left have done such a shite job in opposition that they have had to pact with nationalists, pact with the left, the right.... lose elections because of dissidents, been the laughing stock because of the ETA meeting.... thats why on the aftermath of the attacks, people wanted to know if it was ETA or Al Qaeda. Trust me, had it been ETA, PSOE would have lost hundreds of thousands of votes.
