Something good
Since summer started here yesterday and the sun is shining, I'm feeling a bit cheerful  . So in the middle of all this gloom and hate and terror and abuse and war and political debate, I thought it would be nice to see if we can think of anything positive to say about the world. So here's a challenge for all of you (especially the regulars):
Everyone post one important (at least in your opinion) positive thing that have happened during the year 2004. It doesn't have to concern politics or religion or be anything extraordinary, but it would be nice if the issue is at least somewhat significant internationally.
Here's mine (it was really hard to come up with something):
Quote:
"Washington, DC, US - Republicans and Democrats today unveiled a bipartisan House of Representatives bill to limit carbon dioxide (CO2) pollution. Called the US Climate Stewardship Act, the bill would establish the first-ever national US regulations for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from major energy, transportation, and manufacturing industries. The bill also allows for emissions trading, similar to the EU's legislation to implement the Kyoto Protocol, the EU Emissions Trading Directive."
|
Quote:
("Both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate must pass the bill or similar versions of it before it can become law.")

Ok, your turn. I'm gonna get myself a cold one.

Something "positive", you say? Something uplifting?
Uhh, OK!
I saw Janet Jacksonīs nipple! That was nice! Well, not really...
Another "positive" thing?
Well, i wasnīt shot by some crackhead yet! That was good thing. I think. Maybe...
Hmmm, another "positive" thing, letīs see.
Oh yeah! My soccer club has reached the Champions League final! That was good. If they loose, itīs not so good.
Other than that, i donīt see many reasons yo be happy about, in 2004. Or 2003, for that matter.
This world is a real sess pool, we should get hit by some humongous asteroid, or some alien race should accidentaly hit the "DO NOT PRESS" button, and get medieval on our asses!
Will someone please invent an economy size double seated space ship, so i can get the hell out?

Oh, come on. You must be able to think of something.
I actually thought as my first choice the fact that Monty Python's "Life of Brian" will be apparently hitting the cinemas again. But since it's not there yet I had to pick option #2
And even though the world is a mess, I'm lucky to have my woman, my family, my friends and my health. That's personally pretty uplifting.

Hmmm...even though I really would like to help a fellow man in his search for a companion by directing my beautiful (Yeah, I'm lucky ) woman his way, I must decline your request. I may share files but some things are better left unshared. ;)
Btw, so much for the politics&religion and serious issues for me this friday....

Well, let's see good thing for 2004 Politics wise I cant think of any other than The New Black Panther Party finally stepping back out into the streets of Dallas, may not seem good to some but its definetly a move in the right direction.
Other good things for this year, i'm getting my scheduled back surgery soon, I broke with my fiance` in December of 2003 and now I have been blessed with a more understanding and caring girlfriend, and this relationship looks like it can really go some places because of the strong communications and a good understandment that we are not going to hold grudges against each other.
Other good things for this year, I was offered to sale bluegoop for $7500, why they wanted to pay that much I have no earthly clue, but as much as I love this site im gonna have to sale it to myself for a buck and a quarter :dog:

Black Panthers a good thing? Well then there must be a hooded revival that is a good thing as well. Geez. They are both outdated and should both stay in the past. Period...
What people need to stop whining about is what ancestor did to whose. Making this Generation pay for the Holocaust is bovine defaction (not the fact that it happened but that you have to pay 60+ years continuously on it) and well that slaves now want compensation is absolute bovine defacation!
Well let's see what was good...
I think that was all as far as the world of politics goes.
Sports... well Michael Schumacher won the F1 for the 6th time and is on his way to #7.
Less than 100 days from Olympia and the Greeks are finally getting some sense of urgency to complete some of the arena's.
The superbowl with Nippelgate is over and it was one heck of a party in Houston... We welcome y'all back any time. Let's see how the MLB All star game goes....
Personal stuff stays personal but that has been fairly good

Right direction? The Black Panthers was a criminal organization pretending to be a civil rights organization.
