That made me think that you thought that I thought that belief in any form is bad. Sorry about that.

It is good and bad, many people gling to their religion for something to offer them support in life when times get tough, whether it is all real or not is unknown (to me anyway), but with out religion many people would cease to exist today.

Then you have the negative side, more then half of the worlds wars since the commencements of civilised nations have been because of the difference of opinions in religions. These wars have claimed the lives of millions and millions of people.

Yea war is one negative effect..

The positive effect is something the people follow and because they all follow the same thing, they are always nice to each other (the people of the same religion) and give them favors, then if they are nice to other people, depends if they are racist? i guess..or religionist?...I dont think there is a word that describes that oh well.

Anyways, back to the hot topic..religion. Now religion is "man-based" or "man-made" according to scientists and ......:rolleyes:. In some cases, it can be a good influence...for example, it can create traditions and cultures, it brings a group of people closer together and they watch out for each other just because they believe in the same things. It can also create conflict as stated in previous posts. If in your "religion" it says that some other religion is wrong and you should kill every person you see of that religion. Well that shouldnt be..because I believe that if there was a religion, it should be...just care about your damn self and dont care about others. Believe what you want to believe and stay to that belief. Another thing..what i just talked about...yea...thats exactly what missionaries do...yea..they "spread" religion..Well you shouldnt...just stay with the people of your same religion and spread positive ideas and religious beliefs inbetween your group of people, not all over and try to make other people into your religion..Their future is their future, they will go to heaven or hell, it doesnt depend on you.

I don't think any (serious) religion exists in the world that states you should kill those who have other beliefs.

In my opinion, Religion is a state of mind. I do believe in a higher power, but I also belive you do not have to belong to an organized congregation to be one with that higher power. Religion is meant to give you morals and guidelines in which to live your life by....when wars and killing enter the picture, it is not the religion that is ruleing, but the organizations and governments. We also have to remember, we as a free country choose those governments...many other unfortunate countries do not have that option!
