in CA they have recently enacted a law, making necrophilia illegal. i say: keep the government out of the bedroom. there is no reason to outlaw something only because most people find it disgusting. why are laws banning necrophilia ok, but laws against gay anal sex get struck down?

I wonder if necrophilia is such a large problem there that they feel they have to enact a law prohibiting it.

I have to agree with Genius here to a certain extent. Freedom means that we shouldn't be passing laws to prohibit otherwise law-abiding adult citizens from participating in a consentual act unless there is a clear threat to socieity from these acts. Of course one could argue that CA isn't free, but that's a different discussion

Where I disagree is that necrophilia is not likely mutually consentual. Sure the living person has consented, but I wonder if the deceased would have consented to this act on their dead body (perhaps they should have put it in their will). Or for that matter, if they would have consented to this act when they were alive (e.g. are people raping dead celebrities?). What also if the deceased was a minor at the time of death, they wouldn't have been able to consent. If you call the body, just a slab of meat, then you can make the argument that there's no reason to worry about consent in this type of case, but the fact is that even in death, we make decisions about our bodies (e.g. burial or cremation, organ donor or not, etc.), so it is reasonable to assume that people could make a decision of this type. Instead, I'd suggest that if someone wants their body to be used for necrophilia, they should document this desire somewhere so the necrophiliacs are justified in their statement that this act was consentual.

You should've just looked up necrophilia and save yourself the embarassment, but necrophilia is basically, a love for, or in this case, to have sex with, dead bodies. -philia means a love for, just like -phobia is a hatred or fear for.
