Actually, I think this is a good thing. It hurts like the dickens (not as bad as it does in Europe - I mean, geez, $100 to fill up your car!?) but it comes at a pretty good time. With the hybrids getting more attention and fuel cells getting a little media time, rising gas prices might be just the answer to push consumers into asking for, and buying, more fuel efficient vehicles.
For those who don't know it, Schwartzenegger (Governor of California) has funded building hydrogen stations along the highways of California. It's this kind of leadership + better alternatives + sustained high gas prices that will get us off the greasy nipple.
Oh yea, this "Don't buy gas for a day" thing will never happen. At any given time in America there are hundreds of thousands of delivery trucks on the roads. These guys are not going to let their trucks run dry, and miss their deliveries, because of some email. Planes will continue to fly and commerce will go on.

I did not know this. So he's actually doing at least something good. (Don't get me wrong, I don't have any negative feelings against Ahnuld, just politicians in general ;) )
He's not showing a very good personal experience though with his humvees. If I'm not totally wrong, didn't Arnold have a big influence for the humvee's entry to consumer markets? Didn't he ask them to make him a humvee and wasn't his the first humvee produced for consumers?

I agree, this boycott will never happen on a larger scale.

He's fulfilled campaign promise after campaign promise, including dealing with California's debt problem that got Davis recalled. Despite the general European disbelief that an actor, of all people, should be elected to office, it seems the Terminator is doing a pretty damn good job.

Arnold has his eyes on the White House, just like Reagan. I wonder how his "Schwartzanomics" will be? Instead of a Star Wars program, he will build a Skynet!
And force everyone to wear dark sun glasses, and say "Iīll be back" all the time!
Honestly, iīm hearing some good things about him. If only he sitted a bit more over to the left, it would be even better. Itīs always a good thing when you donīt have to fear the politician making decisions with his eye on the growing of his own bank account.
Arnold is already a gazzillionaire, so you donīt have to worry about stuff like Halliburton, Texaco and Enron.
The oil prices are rising unnecessarily. The current production versus consumption rate is not justifying such high increases in oil prices.
Somebody is making a filthy fortune at our expenses, thatīs for shure. Maybe we should check on Cheneyīs bank account for recent deposits.
Some people are downplaying the imortance of oil prices, but i submit to you that if the prices reach $50 US dollars per barrel, we could end up with another Depression, only this time it would be world wide. Thereīs too much pression riding on the oil prices. World economies are way too dependent on fossil fuels. If the price reaches 50, a lot of trucking, transport, and fuel dependent companies will go bust. Including Airlines, public transportation, shipping, auto sales will drop, unemployment will rise, cost of life will increase, and all hell breaks loose. Itīs a bloody chain reaction.

I actually didn't have any disbelief in him. And there are famous people doing politics all over the world, in my home country too. So I think everyone's used to them by now.
Besides, how could one dare to doubt the terminator? Because he will crush you if you do....

You are all spoilt brats. ;)

Now I know why many European pot-smokers travel to Holland: They sell their fuel there and buy pot with the profits
On topic: I'm looking forward to the May 20th run on the gas-stations.

I agree that Arnold seems like a conscientious guy, but remember that the Bush family also have a gazzillion dollars and that hasn't stopped Bush from using the Presidency to get more. It is not what a person has but what they want that creates corruption.

I think that there should be like 1 day boycott in every month of the year. I dont think its gonna work though. Not everybody will agree and not travel just because they dont want gas today. People have better things on their minds. It is a good idea though.
