Are we talking about reality or imaginary things?
If we're talking about fictional things, then I would make everyone love each other :x
It's harder to kill someone when you love him/her...
If we're talking about possible things, in that case I would just make everyone stop hating each other
Ok, for real this time: I would make the women equal to men in every respect; education, possibilities to make decisions etc.
Don't know if that's any more likely to happen than the two above, but in theory at least.

I'd remove greed, and replace it with compassion, or empathy, or whatever...

I would remove selfishness and greed.
If you remove peopleīs will to have and possess, you remove the very reason for the existence of crime and wars.
Thatīs what so great about comunism. In itīs pure form, comunism is the solution for all that is wrong with the world. Everybody owns the same, everybody eats the same, dresses the same, drives the same. You donīt need to steel because you already have it. You donīt need to wage war because there are no borders, all the resources are shared. Everybody matters, no one is left out and no one is kept out. There are no classes, no elite, no poor people to discriminate and no rich people to envy. We are one and the same.
It was selfishness, egotism, greed and envy that shaped this world to what it is now, a paradise for crooks, warmongers and thiefs. Capitalism is the system of choice for the selfish and the greedy, just as comunism is for the just and the righteous.
PS:Please do not compare comunism with that aberration that takes place on some countries. China, the ex-USSR, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, these are NOT comunist countries. They are just compromises. For comunism to exist, we have to banish all borders and become one nation, one world. Otherwise, there will always be someone else, somewhere, to envy and to crave. And that would bring the system crumbling down.
Real comunism has yet to be implemented. No country on Earth ever tried or wished to implement REAL comunism. Except maybe Atlantis...

How boring...I'd rather kill myself than living in a standardized world. Besides, ever thought of the fact that not everyone wants the same? Or what if everyone does want the same thing (e.g. a pretty woman). Will she be fucked by some hundred pals?

Since when are reasons needed to wage a war or to steal or to kill someone?
no classes....does this mean that the local dentist will earn as much as the guys picking up the dirt from the streets? I'd think twice before I went to such a highly motivated dentist....
On the other hand...I'd really like my own space shuttle. lol.

Now you did it...I have tears in my eyes. Hail Marx! And to honor his great manifest, I'll change the PIN-numer of my ec-card to 1848 - just before I give it to the next best homeless person and start a new life as mendicant.
Amen!

I wouldn't change one thing. Sorry for being such a boring realist but you can't take away one thing and expect things to be the same.
- I would've said make people smarter, but then it might get boring.
- I would've said make people care more, but then we'd start feeding all the needy african countries (more than we already do) and eventually due to overpopulation we'd have food shortages and/or people would have to stop eating meat (yes, I know how cynical that is, it's not thought out anyway).
- No borders? We would all be clawing for the best farmland, best hunting grounds or a spot by the sea where fishing is best. Oops, a war might even occur. If we all got along and shared these prime spots for fishing/farming? These spots wouldn't last very long because we'd overfish/overhunt/overfarm (I think the problem is called the public commons or some crap like that I forgot).
- I don't know, maybe we can go back to some communal system where we produce our own food, and everybody gets together at night and sings songs by the campfire (because otherwise we'd need nuclear electricity to fuel our entertainment, such as the pc you're using right now). We definitely couldn't sustain our present population that's for sure... Say goodbye to half your friends and family.
- Selfishness and greed might've come from our desire to protect our own family/tribe and I'd say in most respects it hasn't changed. Who doesn't want the best for their children? There are definitely cases where it's one individual that's power hungry and doesn't give a shit about anything else, but otherwise it's too easy to just dismiss it like that.
- I though communism was a nice idea when I was about 11 or 12, the whole idea of everybody getting what they needed. My mother, in one flash of wisdom told me:"Well, no one will do anything because there's no motivation." Things will bever be equal between people, there's always going to be something (looks, abilities, spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend, etc...) that will set us apart and possibly create envy and the ensuing problems anyway. We're not robots.

I'm surprised no one has really had any fun with this question. If you could change one thing, why not model it after something Homer Simpson might say? Faucets that have both hot and cold water, but also have beer. Donut trees growing wild (donuts with sprinkles). Topless women who enjoy being hit on.
OK enough "fun". If I could change one thing about the world I think I'd slow the pace of things down. People are always in far too much of a hurry. They rush through everything in life, and things never happen fast enough for them.
Fortunately, this IS something that each of us can change in our own lives, if we choose to do so. That's good, because anything more and we're simply imposing our own will upon everyone else on the planet. If I'm not mistaken, most people seem to have issues with world leaders who do what they think is the right thing. So, why should we be any different?
