All these information about Saddam were a trick ot release oil from Irak. As far as Saddam was there, there was

no way to do so. Saddam and so Irak sold everything to the French Total (and some to Russian companies). So what the French wanted is the US to go to war and them to get the oil.

There is no big publicity because UK and US have been trapped, but the Italian government expressed clearly their disgust to public. Are the French allies of the West. Not anymore. If you make a poll in France about what they think about 9/11, they'll answer they happy about it.

Knowing those facts the US has asked the people trading with the French (as for Saudis) to consider them mostly as rivals and even as enemies like Soviet Union was considered long time ago. This is official and documents about how to treat the French have been provided to some US citizen, manly CEO and the kind.
