Default The democratic reasons against gay marriage

If understanding why there is fuss about the topic is possible, it is harder to understand why this stuff is dragging so much.
This latency was usually explained by the poor level of integration of the people who asked for their rights to be respected.
But here homosexuals are often well integrated in the society, with good economical and political positions.

I'm missing the democratic reasons they are opposed not to enter their rights.
What are the sound democratically speaking arguments?

Thank you.

Not a democratic reason. The majority has no say when it comes to the rights of the minority.

It is a democratic reason. Although the majority shouldn't have a say when it comes to the rights of a minority, in the real world they have. When a politician stands up for the rights of a minority he can be voted out of office. That's why gay people still don's enjoy equal rights in generally homophobic democratic countries like the US.

I said this wasnt a democratic reason because it is hardly receivable in public. Politicians are elected to act within the framework of the constitution.
I cant imagine a politician saying "I'm against because the majority is against"
That's a bit thin. There must be other ropes they use to delay. Or not?

Sadly enough a lot of politicians do not have an opinion. They just want power and money. One way is to take the opinion of the majority because that get's you votes. I think that what is happening politically with gay marriages in the US is worse. As you say, gay mariage should be trivial to allow, but because a lot of people have strong opinions on the subject based on fear, gay marriage is a great political tool to distract from the important issues and to enhance the general feeling of fear that has proven to be so useful for the Bush administration. If you speak out against gay marriage, you speak out against uncertainty and the unknown and that gives a lot of people the comfortable feeling that got Bush reelected.
