I have just read The Da Vinci code. The book is a pretty simple thriller, but it has its reputation on a series of questions it raises about christianity, and specifically the role og the catholic church.
I have been researching on the subject, and I have found ample information about a series of events which I had no prior knowledge of.
Amongst the issues discussed, the author states that Jesus wasnt considered a son of God until it was decided 300 years later at the council of Nicea.
The Holy Grail is Mary Magdalene, since she carries the blood of christ.... they had a daughter called Sarah, and their descendants are the merovingian dynasty.
The prieure de sion, which has had grand masters as distinguished as Da Vinci, Newton amongst others, are in charge of keeping the location of the hoy grail safe.
I have been researching on the subjects discussed, adn I believe that some of the issues are of great interest. I have also read many reports that denounce the book as a compendium of historical lies.
Anyone, any views?

I too read the book and found it a pretty satisfying thriller, mostly for the depth of detail that Brown puts behind the theory. I also did some research after reading and found pretty much the same thing you did, though I focused more on the contrarian view.

All in all, a pretty interesting theory (and the Matrix tie-in is pretty cool, too). I think it makes perfect sense and wouldn't be surprised if it were proved true. Still, when all is said and done, it's just another wrinkle in the big mystery that surrounds Jesus and the Church. One we will never know.

Ya, i also did some research after reading this book, but I highly suggest Angels & Demons. I read that first, then the other 3 Dan Brown books and theyre my 4 favorites. i usually hate reading but i went through Angels & Demons in 3 days, Deception Point in 3 days, Digital Fortress in 2, and Da Vinci Code in 2. Angels & Demons was by far the best, and all four were incredible. Angels & Demons is also about Robert Langdon and the Illuminati, itll make u wanna do a lot of research too.
