Bush 9/11 hearing
Am I the only one that finds the terms of the questioning a bit strange?
Quote:
Bush had only agreed to meet the commission under pressure from victims' families and the panel, and only on condition he have Cheney at his side and they meet in private, with no recording of the session. They were not under oath.
|
So the American people are to trust only Bush's word that he and Cheney answered everything they were asked and didn't lie?
Here's the link if someone doesn't know what I'm talking about.

As fatboy[share] pointed out, Clinton also testified (or will testify) in private. But, Clinton didn't need (won't need) to testify with the "buddy system."

Clinton or Bush, I still find it quite stupid to have a hearing in which you may bring an accomplice along with you, you may lie, and your possible lies aren't even recorded.

I think the hearings are recorded; but, they are not released to the public.

Why did Cheney have to appear with him, anyway? Isn't that sort of contrary to this "Continuity of Government" thing? This new security policy of always splitting the two up geographically, in case one gets attacked and killed? A terrorist could have taken them both out at once.
Does Bush really need to have somebody [that can actually speak intelligently] next to him constantly? Is he that afraid of being caught in any "unscripted" environment alone?

That has got to be true. It really does. Nothing else really makes sense.

I think Cheney is there to answer all the questions in Bush´s place, since Bush is so dumb he won´t know jack shit about anything.
Cheney is just there to pick up the ball, and keep Bush from making an ass of himself (it doesn´t help).
And to back eachother´s lies, of course.
Some say Cheny is a daunting figure, that temorizes the staunchiest man. Maybe he´s there to scare the comission shitless, and put the fear of god into them...
"I think he has this mystique, whether it's justified or not, of being a very tough guy, and a very Machiavellian guy, and a very bare-knuckles fighter," said Richard Clarke, who worked with Cheney after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks as a National Security Council official and is now an ABCNEWS consultant.
"I don't know whether any of that is true. I've never really seen very much of that, but that's the mystique," Clarke said. "I wouldn't want to put it to the test. I never did. I think he enjoys the reputation that you don't want to cross Dick Cheney."
Uuuuhh, i´m trembling of fear...

This one wasn't recorded, even the stenographer wasn't allowed to be in the room.

He's probably the one making the decisions anyway, so it's only natural to have him there besides Bush.
