The italian prime minister, Berlusconi, was hurt this week, when a 28yo man hurled a cameratripod at his head. The assailant told investigators: "I did it because I hate him".
The fact that the attack was motivated by hate should result in a much higher sentence, dont you think?

an act of violence is not an inherently evil act or "crime" just cuz some set of laws decides it is. malicious acts of prejudice aren't any different in severity of dangerousness than non-prejudical malicious acts & thus should not be any different in punishment. besides there's no way to prove an act was a "hatecrime" and therefore there should be no distinction. it's an unforcable law, it's dead letter.

and hate is not illegal anyway and it shouldn't be.
