Default overheating in ps3.

Has anyone encountered this problem with playstation 3? I read in an article that sony's ps2 also causes problem of overheating( though not as much as xbox) and is prone to crashes.
Do you know something in this regard?

This is the first time i am hearing about heating problem in ps3. If its really there, i am sure it wont cause any serious damage and if people would give it enough space in a ventilated room, there would be no overheating.

My brother bought PS3, but I really didn't see it 'cause I was too busy. 2 days later after he bought it, he had to have it repaired 'cause it overheated and there was something that was damaged inside. Anyway, he really said it overheated. I don't know if there's a different PS3 being sold out there...

Yes, they overheat. Normally due to a failure inside or a lack of ventilation.

I've never had a problem with my PS3 overheating. I make sure it has plenty of space. The only problem I've ever had with my PS3 is that it doesn't always detect my Wifi signal.

Default Ps3

I have had plenty of problems with this system, lost data, and dvd not playing. It is a great system when it works, but I'm glad we didn't buy it when it first came out. There are two many bugs that need to be worked out.

You need to make sure that it's out of direct sunlight, and away from heat sources. The PS3 is a very powerful machine, and it WILL overheat if played for too long.

All consoles from the Amiga to the Gameboy have stated to keep it away from heat sources, but when it comes to consoles as powerful as this, it's much more important due to the amount of heat they produce.
