This game is absolutely frickin' fantastic. I didn't think it would surpass DMC3, but it easily did - although I love DMC3 very much, that is a topic for another day.
The combat is flawless, but I like how the game also remembers it is part adventure. Pandora's Temple, is pretty challenging from about every point of view, including puzzles. Seriously, I haven't solved things like these since
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. I'm more than impressed.
As of now, I'm in the Architecht's tomb. I think I've just figured out how to get past the second lock of three on the door, but I'm doing it in the morning. I'm about 7 hours in, but it's easy to see this is going to be a short game, like reviews have said.
The biggest gripe I have with GoW is the camera. I find it to be
god-awful, pardon the pun.
It's not so much that it is a hindrance, a handicap in combat, not... but during platform or puzzle segments, you can't move the camera. You can't move the camera to admire the scenery or even pick out distant chests holding items that you might have missed - you have to leave it all in the hands of the game... and sometimes that really sucks. Hey, GoW guys? Play the updated Ninja Gaiden? Well, you'd better do your camera like that come your next game.
