What is Nintendo Dolphin?

I heard that it was a new system that Nintendo will be coming out with.

If they are coming up with a new version of the Gamecube, they should probably name it GameTrapezoid or GameOctagon or something. TO go to a Dolphin would be completely stupid.

Just like Xbox will become XBottle, right? Or XCan?

Nintendo Dolphin, I believe, was the codename during development of Gamecube.

Also..

The Dreamcast codename was so much cooler. It was called Katana (small Japanese sword; embodies the DC because the DC was supposed to be small and deadly).

Or the Xbox codename; Midway. Operation Midway was the military operation in which America planned to overtake Japan in WWII. Xbox wasn't successful enough in Japan for that to make sense (In Japan, the Dreamcast actually outsold the Xbox every month after the Xbox was out until recently)

Except that a katana is a full-sized Japanese sword. The smaller ones are called Wakazashi and Tonto, the former being a method of last resort, and the latter being a suicide tool.

And yeah, Dolphin was the Cube's codename. The codename for the new Nintendo console is the Revolution.

Isn't a full-sized japanese sword called a "Nodachi"?

Dolphin sounds like such a gay name to name a console or even a handheld game.
