My friend carries a knife around with him more for the functionality than defence. He's a techie for drama so he uses it when he's working on ropes and wires and stuff like that. This knife couldn't cause a whole lot of damage anyway. My dad carries one around too but it's to help him because he constantly needs to cut things at work so the knife's just there to help him.
