Default Re: System Freezes with High-Pitched noise from Speakers

Hi Bryan Lee,

The A+ troubleshooting method is to remove all, or as many
devices as possible from your system in order to determine
which device is at fault. In your case, I would start by just
removing the SoundBlaster at first.

| Jimmy,
|
| That what I thought, but the sound is from the speakers.
|
| I'm running Dual Channel RAM at 1GB (twin stick of 512 PC3200). I took one
| stick out, ran the computer and it booted up fine. Ran the game, and it
| locked up with the noise, Took the other stick out and put the first stick
| that I took out back in. Ran the game, and it locked up there too. So it's
| not the RAM.
|
| I used Motherboard Monitor 5 as well as Everest Home Edition. Both check
| normal. Physically the CPU shows no sign of unusual overheating around the
| heatsink.
|
| Ran an event log, but the system freezes before the failure could be logged.
| Could it be a possible CPU failure due to strain over time?
|
| Thanks,
| Bryan
