More likely a sound or video accelerator driver incompatability.

Make sure you install the FS version 9.1 patch available on Microsoft's
web site.

Post your hardware specifications including make model and driver
versions for video and sound accelerators. Also include main and video
memory quantities, CPU type and system clock speeds. This information
will permit others with similar hardware to compare their settings to
yours. It's common for computer hardware to be delivered to the final
user that contains drivers that were superceded while the equipment was
traversing the supply chain. The latest driver versions are ocasionaly
NOT the most desireable.

Also include your DirectX version.

Most of the information described above can be saved as a log file by
the DirectX diagnostic program that was instaled with your operating
system or a subsquent installation of an application requireing DirectX.
Hold down your windows logo key while typeing the "R" key (for "run")
then type "dxdiag" in the resulting dialog. Segments from the log file
can be copied to the clipboard for pasting into a posting. If the video
and sound tests are run before clicking the "Save Information" button,
the log file will include data about the test results.

And DON"T forget routine maintenence like Microsoft's service packs,
Microsoft's critical updates, operating a firewall, antivirus and
spyware scanner.
