I can't wait to see this movie.

Michael Moore does go too far sometimes and that's always been his achilles' heel. Still, I like his books and movies.

I don't really see him as a liar, although he has perhaps done some questionable things to promote his new movie and fibbed in a previous book (link), a lot of stuff he wrote in his last book was already known. He is, in essence, a satirist and not an investigative reporter as many like to point out, but he draws upon facts to make his points. I still haven't seen any evidence where he makes insane accusations based only in fiction (a la Alex jones). If he really was that big of a liar, he would probably be out of money by now from all the slander/libel suits. He is supposedly more subdued in this movie, probably to help his credibility and give less ammunition to the opposition.

In any case, nowadays, with all the hate between the liberals and neocons, it's hard to discern the truth. Each side accuses the other of lying and so in the end everyone is a liar and should be ignored. I try to read both sides but have to admit that the likes of Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly always seem to be full of it.

When an average joe watches this movie, they will surely be deeply affected, not because it may be 100% true, but because he will see what Moore wants them to see. This effect goes both ways, like when Bush lied about the Iraqi connection with Al Qaeda. I guess turnabout is fair play. Luckily for Bush, average joes will not go to see this movie. They will go to see Spiderman 2.

All that being said, he is in it for the money and recognition as anyone else would be, and who can blame him? If he really did want as many people as possible to see his new movie as he says he does, he should just distribute on the internet for free or a small fee to cover his costs.

What will be interesting is how the republicans will try to minimize the impact of this movie. Try to stop it and it will just gain more recognition. Maybe the best thing for them to do would be to try to make a mockery of him and make people think that he is just a clown (some people always think that anyway), although that may backfire too. We'll find out soon...
