It really is quite amazing how selective memory can work its magic. Many (most?) Europeans have stated that they loved Clinton, that we had no troubles with the world (them, anyway) when Clinton was president. They accuse Bush of being bellicose and overly free with the military. They choose to forget that Clinton deployed US troops to more countries than any president in history and continues to hold that distinction. They rail Bush for his wanton disregard of the UN and choose to forget that Clinton did not seek UN Security Council approval on numerous occasions: Haiti, Serbia, Kosovo, Sudan, and Afghanistan. They accuse Bush of having imperialistic goals, and choose to foget that Clinton's reasons for launching military operations on Haiti, Serbia, and Kosovo were expressly designed to topple the current governments.

Yet Clinton is the favored son and Bush is the reckless cowboy.
