Since summer started here yesterday and the sun is shining, I'm feeling a bit cheerful  . So in the middle of all this gloom and hate and terror and abuse and war and political debate, I thought it would be nice to see if we can think of anything positive to say about the world. So here's a challenge for all of you (especially the regulars):
Everyone post one important (at least in your opinion) positive thing that have happened during the year 2004. It doesn't have to concern politics or religion or be anything extraordinary, but it would be nice if the issue is at least somewhat significant internationally.
Here's mine (it was really hard to come up with something):
Quote:
"Washington, DC, US - Republicans and Democrats today unveiled a bipartisan House of Representatives bill to limit carbon dioxide (CO2) pollution. Called the US Climate Stewardship Act, the bill would establish the first-ever national US regulations for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from major energy, transportation, and manufacturing industries. The bill also allows for emissions trading, similar to the EU's legislation to implement the Kyoto Protocol, the EU Emissions Trading Directive."

Quote:
("Both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate must pass the bill or similar versions of it before it can become law.")

Ok, your turn. I'm gonna get myself a cold one.
