"U.S. broadcasters on Monday struck back at the government's crackdown against indecency on the airwaves, warning regulators that harsher policies were threatening free speech on radio and television.

A coalition of more than 20 broadcasters, artists' groups and media organizations filed a petition on Monday asking the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reconsider a profanity ruling that is part of what some commentators have called a new sexual McCarthyism."

Interesting to see how much effort and money the signers of the petition are willing to spend for this fight. Or will the petition be the only action taken in fear of consequences.
