Well, that depends on where you are, doesnīt it? Jails arenīt the same everywhere, and i can tell you with 100% certainty that in my countryīs case jails are just polished shithouses and crime schools. All the convicts do all day is sit in a cell and watch TV (when they are allowed to have one).
Thereīs no work, no school, no passtimes. Only hard time.
When you manage to get some sort of occupation, the more fitting name should be "slave work", as it doesnīt pay virtually anything. And when you finally manage to come out, you are stigmatized by everybody else! Ex-convicts arenīt hired to do anything, not even street sweepers. But thatīs a different story.
