LOL You can still be a legal alien without a greencard. H1B, F1 and many many other visa's allow you to be legally in the US and not have the greencard....
There is a tremendous difference between no papers and no greencard. I for one do not like being thrown in the the bunch with "Illegals" as I have not done anything illegal....
