thats funny... my father came into this country, without a suitcase, no shirt or shoes, just a pair of shorts.. from cuba to miami..

he knew no one, had no job no money no nothing.. worked hard for 20 years.. started as a graphics designer which was his profession only to sacrifice that, and become a school teacher while getting degree's as much as possible..

and now he's a professor in Columbia University, one of the best Universities in the world with a Doctorate in Literature, 2 master degrees (1 in philosophy and 1 in spanish literature) and a bachelor from this country since the one he got in cuba didn't even count..

so he did it all here.. I think your just leaving a blind eye to the fact that we as american born have the greatest opportunity to do something great for ourselves.. we don't have to worry about being the minority, or anything of the sort, since we are americans and this is our land.. people who come from other countries work hard and live in circumstances much harder than you or I ever will

basically if we don't do something with our lives, thats our fault, not an immigrant who is being given a chance to play in an even playing ground.. you'd be surprised how hard it is to leave your home and start over.. you were never given that kind of hardship.. im happy as all hell I wasn't force to either..

ps. both of my parents are immigrants here for 25 years, and after all that time we got 2 things from this country

Jack and Shit. we did everything on our own.. and were living very well today because of the hard work we did to get there.. were not rich, but 150+ thousand a year is good enough for us..

what my friend said after reading the thread.
